I found an article that says something I’ve been ranting about since the early ’90s, only the author is much more articulate and less prone to vulgar language than I could ever be. Sorry, cuss words aren’t taboo to me (they really aren’t). Seriously, quit being a whiny, partisan asshole and just read the article, then tell me what you think. Keep in mind that only the weak-minded or ignorant believe all revolutions to be bloody wartime affairs. Ever heard the term “bloodless coup”?
How bad does it have to get before you people do something about it? How long until you decide that enough is enough and stand up for yourselves? “United we stand. Divided we fall.” Mean anything to you? The whole “Red state v. Blue state” thing is a very clever way to keep the People united and non-partisan, and thus we fall further and further away from what we should be (and could be) and more into a stratified, impotent society. Yay for us.
I hate pointing fingers at specific groups, but the Evangelicals are a serious setback to the country. With 1/4 of the voting power in America, they’ve done a lovely job of helping to sell us out to Big Money, people who claim to be Christian traditionalists, but then reject everything Biblical except in name. Good job. It’s nice to know that some Bronze Age religion calls the shots in a country that is supposed to be progressive. And by “progressive” I don’t mean Liberal. Don’t get me started on Liberals or Conservatives either. They’re the other assholes screwing this country left and right (ooooh pun!) with their partisan politics. A country runs on compromise. Polarization and the inability to compromise is a great way to stagnate the political machine.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not naive enough to think that America *was* something more than it is now. No, it’s always been a walking mess. We’re only 200 and change years old; we’re infants compared to the rest of the world. I’m bitching about what we could be.
Tsk. Whatever. I’m done ranting. Keep watching American Idol people. Keep arguing over useless divisions of paradigms. I hate to sound like a Pinko Commie (I like saying those two words for some reason), but it always has been and always will be about the Haves versus the Have-Nots, and unless you’re hitting up the Bohemian Club you’re a Have-Not, trust me. Hrmm, maybe I should check the news to see what Rights got signed away today?
-=Grim=-
In tems of the whole Evangelical thing, I know every time I’m about to do something, I ask myself one important question:
“Will this action contribute to making Peter’s head explode like a Gallagher watermelon?”
Trampling other whining little girly folks’ rights in the process is just an added bonus. :p
In terms of the emo ‘article’, ever heard of a revolt that didn’t wind up with an even more oppressive, rights trampling government in control? Revolutions don’t end when the leader’s heads roll, mohawk boy. They end after the new Lords and Masters solidify their power bloc and whack/neutralize/put under house arrest/banish anybody who might threathen their New Order.
“One Tyrant two thousand miles away, or Two Thousand Tyrants, One Mile Away.”
p.s. :p
hm…. I think you’re right. My only real critique of your argument is that you use “you” as your choice of designator. Not “we” or “us”. You’re a part of this too, buddy. With or without your massive amounts of drugs. :-)
But moving on…
I don’t think it’s as easy as saying “Just wake up!” cause, well, people are vapid. I’ve worked with people who have clearly said “I don’t watch the news, it reminds me how bad the world is”cause, y’know, we should forget and everything. People don’t want to be reminded. The world is hard, their lives are hard. They struggle every day to fail, essentially. It’s really hard to break away from that.
I agree with you. Things need to change. Not necessarily a revolution (although it gets more and more likely every day) but even to call up our Constitution given right and reset the government. But I think the only way to do that is within.
I think we have two clear, and a bunch of muddy, choices.
Either
A) Organize a revolt, storm DC and tear down the structure from the bottom. To do this we need to have a plan, a clear structure to replace it with quickly, that is agreed upon by everyone. The compromise must be made and we all have to be behind one message and one voice.
Or
B) We begin infiltration. Probably take just as long as motivating around 100,000,000 people to storm Washington, but will be cleaner. Between quiet revolutionaries getting elected into positions and sleepers being placed in corporate positions, just begin cleaning house. Time is coming from change, but unfortunately very few of us have the tools. I mean, what am I gonna do? I want to write music, and DJ, and enjoy my youth, and eventually raise a family, not to mention have safety provided by money…but kiss all of that goodbye for change…. The greater good is a wonderful idea. Unfortunately it requires more than you, me, and a few ultra educated people fighting over who should be in charge after our evil army of chinchillas has finished eating our enemies…
To Sum Up What I thought when reading your blog/the article. “All Animals are created equal. Some Animals are more equal than others.”
I use you” not “we” because I’m out of the fight.
-=Grim=-
All animals are not created equal.
Consider their Hit Dice. Not only does the higher Hit Dice of a Elephant = mean ‘more Hit Points than Cow’ but also ‘better THACO tables’. :p
